Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, began today to consider a request by the United Nations secretary general, Ban Ki-moon, to allow access for UN humanitarian assistance to the city of Dera.
The request was made during a telephone conversation on Wednesday between the two leaders, said in a statement the office of the official spokesperson for the world organization.
In this exchange, the head of the UN reiterated the need to address the humanitarian needs of the population affected by the unrest in Syria and demanded permission for the entry of humanitarian personnel in that country.
The secretary general welcomes the intention expressed by President Al-Assad to consider this request regarding the city of Dera, stresses the note said.
Adds that during the conversation, the head of the UN insisted on an immediate cessation of violence and arrests of demonstrators in Syria and demanded an investigation into the deaths recorded during the clashes.
Moreover, Ban Ki-moon urged the Syrian president to a speedy and full implementation of reforms and measures announced by the government and stressed the importance of taking a genuine dialogue in the country.
Last week the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), postponed the approval of a proposed aid to Syria for the five years 2012-2017 by the situation.
Reportedly, these resources were focused on economic growth, institutional consolidation, administrative and legal, prevention and disaster management, the fight against HIV / AIDS and environmental control.

The nationalist Ollanta Humala and Congresswoman Keiko Fujimori have a virtual dead heat in the preferences to the second round of the presidential election in Peru, according to a survey released today by the portal elcomercio.pe.
